This article helps new users set up their account, covering registration, email verification, password creation, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup via SMS or authenticator apps. It explains MFA’s importance, offers troubleshooting for access errors (e.g. 401/403 errors), and provides contact info for customer support. Users must accept terms before logging in and may need MFA regularly for secure access.

1. Signing up and getting started
You will be granted access to the application through your Admin that have access to our REALYTIX ZERO Admin Tool. The Admin Tool is connected to the CIAM system. All external customer access is managed through the CIAM system, a centralized database that:
- Manages digital entities (in this case, user accounts).
- Defines access rights for these entities across applications and systems.
- Ensures that identities are handled securely throughout the process.
Signing up for REALYTIX ZERO is quick and easy! Follow the simple steps described below to activate your account:
1.1. Complete registration
You will receive an email from our CIAM system. The email contains a link that will take you to the REALYTIX ZERO registration page, which will open in a new browser window.
Please make sure that this address is NOT blocked or that the emails are NOT classified as SPAM.
Additionally, a second link is included for direct access to the application. However, as a new user, you should first click on the "Complete Registration" link.
After clicking "Complete Registration," your browser will open a new window that should look like this:
Step 2: Fill Out the Form
Please fill out the required fields. Then click on “Continue”
Next, enter the provided verification code into the web browser.
Upon successful verification, the website will prompt you to define a new password.
If your account is classified as “Non-Federated,” Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required as explained below. If not, you can skip this step and proceed to the next.
1.3. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring not only your password but also a second authentication method. On the next page, you will be asked to select and set up your second authentication method. You can choose between:
- SMS/Mobile Phone authentication, or
- An authenticator app such as:
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Okta Verify
- Google Authenticator
- And others
If you choose to use an authenticator app for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), note that various apps are compatible. As a result, the setup steps may vary significantly depending on the app selected.
To keep this document concise, we will focus on the most common option: authentication via phone.
If you opt for authentication via phone, the next screen will prompt you to provide your phone number. You can choose between two options:
- Send Code: You will receive a message containing the verification code via SMS.
- Call Me: You will receive an automated call providing the verification code.
We strongly recommend using SMS on a mobile phone for a smoother and more reliable experience.

FAQ
Why am I not asked for the second factor every time I sign in?
We use advanced risk-based MFA, which means the second factor is required only in certain high-risk situations. Risk-based MFA assesses various factors, such as user location, device, IP address, and login behavior, in real-time to determine the necessity for additional authentication steps.
How do I set up the authenticator app?
Download the authenticator app on your smartphone, then either scan the QR code or manually enter the provided key into the app.
How do I get a code if I can't scan the QR code?
Most authenticator apps support manual entry. Copy the setup key displayed on the screen and paste it into your app.
Can I change the name of the linked account in the authenticator app?
Yes, most popular authenticator apps allow you to change the name of the linked account. The default name is "Munich Re Group Federation", but you can change it to any other name.
What should I do if I cannot access my authenticator app (for example, I have misplaced my smartphone)?
You can temporarily switch to receiving the code by email instead.
What if I lose my phone or uninstall the app?
In this case, you can switch to receiving the code by email and contact our Customer Support team to reset the authenticator app. After that, you can relink your account with a new authenticator app.
Do I need an internet connection on my phone to get the code?
Most authenticator apps generate time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) on your phone, so they don’t require an internet connection for code generation.
Why isn't my code working?
Ensure your phone's time and date settings are correct and confirm you entered the correct secret key. If issues persist, try removing and re-adding the account in the app.
What if I get locked out because I can't access my authenticator app?
If you're locked out, use your backup MFA method (like receiving an email code) or contact our Customer Support team. It's crucial to always have an alternative verification method set up.
Do I need to reconfigure the app if I reset my phone or switch to a new one?
Yes, resetting or switching phones typically requires you to set up the authenticator app again. Be sure to have backup codes or an alternate MFA option before wiping or replacing your phone. Tip: Some of MFA apps allow configuration transfer between devices (through cloud, data backup file, or import/export via QR code).
Why are my codes sometimes not valid when my phone's clock is off?
Authenticator codes are time-based. If your phone's time is inaccurate, the generated codes may not match the expected values from the server. Make sure your phone's clock is set to the correct time (sync it with an internet time server if possible).
If I'm using REALYTIX ZERO through the API, do I still need MFA?
Realytix Zero does not require MFA for the API solution, as it is already secured by two authentication factors: The subscription key from the developer portal. A JWT bearer token that you retrieve from an OAuth2-endpoint with the credentials for your API account (client-id and client-secret).
